Glen Yung is my candidate for City Council Position 3.

Why?

Because unlike other candidates he knows the issues and has been “in the trenches” supporting our neighborhoods. He has been deeply involved on the Columbia Street bike lane, the Navigation Center, and the Heights Subbasin Plan.

Glen does his homework, and will work constructively with City Management while, at the same time, asking challenging questIons and holding Managers accountable when their proposals are at odds with what our community wants.

My endorsement for Glen Yung for Vancouver City Council. Glen was a neighbor and our daughters used to play together so I know his family and his values pretty well. Glen won’t be a sell out like previous members and really cares about what is best for the people living in Vancouver and not trying to change Vancouver into something else.

Glen was very active in trying to stop some of the changes they were making in downtown Vancouver when the previous council was completely ignoring the residents. For example they changed some of the roads to be bike only lanes displacing the street parking for hundreds of residents (many of which were seniors or young families and this was their only parking options). He helped let the neighborhoods know what was going on and helped them speak out.

Glen Yung, his wife, Kim, and their five children have been my neighbors for the last 14 years.  They are two of the nicest people I have ever known.  They lived next door to an elderly man who lived alone, and Kim took him dinner every evening and looked in on him frequently.  Glen and Kim are definitely family-oriented devoted parents.  Although he works full-time, Glen has spent many hours in city council meetings and neighborhood association meetings, standing up for the interests of residents in our area, especially the 800 of us who will be adversely impacted by the loss of parking on Columbia Street due to the implementation of bike lanes which takes place this summer.  Glen definitely has my vote for city council!
